Episode 40: Angels and Demons

Yesterday, I went to school for my librarian duty at 4pm. The whether was kinda want-rain-duwan-rain like dat. But fortunately I reached school without getting my clothes soaked.

Pei Chern was the shift leader on that day (she always give me ‘penyusunan’ one). No duty on that day. Stock check was carried out on that day. So everyone must do ‘penyusunan’ Great.

As I carried some books to one shelves to another, something caught my attention. It was a book la. But I got the feeling that the book was calling for me…

“Come to me Mun Keong…. Come to papa….”

Gosh, creepy man.

To satisfy my curiosity, I took out the book (it was thick and has a hard cover) from the shelve.

When I saw the book title… OMG….

The book was none other than…..

DAN BROWN’S ANGELS AND DEMONS!!!!!

Me wif Dan Brown's masterpiece.

Gosh, man. I cant believe it man. The book with the words “The International Bestsellar” was right in front of my eyes. I feel in love with it instantly. No doubt bout it.

What would such a popular book (even popular than Stephanie Meyer’s Twillight) was doing inside SGI library???

“Damn, I gotta borrow this book”, I whispered to myself.

So today, after Mr.Teh’s account class, (boring as ever) armed with my librarian tag, I raced to the library, hoping the book was still there.

“Thank God the book is still there”, I murmured.

So I grab the book (and hug it) and walked to the library office. I clicked on the computer to register myself as the borrower of the book.

“Ey, ey, Mun Keong, kamu buat ape tu??” asked the Kakak. (Kakak was the library boss)
“Saya nak pinjam buku ini kak.” I replied.
“Tak boleh pinjam hari ini. Kan ada stock check.” said the Kakak.

My heart shattered into pieces.

“Tak boleh pinjam ke, Kak??”, I tried to negotiate.
“Tunggu stock check habis dulu.” she replied.

I was like OMG. When la the stock check gonna finish?? Of all the time…

“Kak, betul tak boleh pinjam?? I asked for one last time, hoping she will agree.
“Tak boleh” she said.

Great. This is just fantastic.

For a moment I thought I could borrow the book… But now…. Have to wait till stock check is done.
I reluctantly put back the book into the shelves, and head to the exit with a sour face.

Suddenly, the Kak called out my name.

What I heard next was magical…

“Baiklah, baiklah. Pergi procees buku tu” she said.

Lady luck had not abandoned me after all. Without wasting any time, I ran towards the shelve and took out Dan Brown’s masterpiece and have it processed.

“Terima kasih Kak.” I said with a glowing smile on my face. My sour face no longer exits that time.

As soon as I went back to my class, I stared flipping the pages. Interesting, I must say. Having read the comments, especially one that says….

“A heart racing thriller. The story has so many twists that it would be a sin to reveal too much of the plot in advance. Lets just say that if this novel doesn’t get your pulse racing, you need to check your meds” –San Francisco Chronicle-

burned my desire to read up the book.

So thanks a lot to Dato’ Ng Tieh Chuan for donating such a marvelous book to the library. The Lost Symbol in the future perhaps??

This book is highly recommended, and if you are a SGI, you should borrow it. But must wait me finish first la.

Hope I can finish reading before November 11.

Can you decipher this?? Illuminati is the word.

Episode 39: Comeback

“Guess who’s back, back again, Shady’s back, tell a friend. Now everyone report to the dance floor…”- Just Lose It by Eminem.

Ahh…Finally… After 1 week of misery, my final exam was finally over. But somehow, I don’t feel happy bout it at all. I did kinda badly in my account paper la, that’s why. Still cant believe that, although I’ve been training for 5 months under my account sifu, I still cant mastered the foundation. Damn it man. (sigh)

Time really fly fast don’t they?? Just a blink of an eye, and its already near the end of 2009. The feeling of being enrolled to the F6 stream is still fresh in my mind, and its just like happened yesterday only. I find hard to believe that the fact that, I’m about to complete my L6 syllabus already. And next year I’m gonna face my biggest challenge ever… STPM.

The 1 week holiday during Hari Raya was indeed a fun week man. No words can describe how exited I am to be reunited with my old pals. Not to mention we had a fantastic BBQ meal at Seik San’s house. Of course nothing could beat the adventure to Taman Saga a.k.a Chinese Graveyard. Lol. I was in Joo Gin’s car at that time and gosh, he almost rammed over a grave when we took a tour inside the graveyard man!!! It was so scary at that time. But luckily no “white figure” or “a pair of red eyes” appeared.
A few days later, we even went to Kuala Sepetang to have one scrumptious seafood feast.

Kuala Sepetangs rocks dude!!!!

The Sepetang gang

Rewind back to a few months ago.... The events that happened was the Librarian Farewell Party and Interact Installation Nite. Sorry homies, no time to blog about that. But what can I say is that, it was a great experience for me as I was elected as the Organizing Chairman for both the function. The Librarian Farewell Party was carried out successfully but not for the Interact Installation. A lot of trouble occurred during that night. I am very sorry bout it.

I guess that’s all from me for now. Will be posting more post in the future. Until then, chao.

P:S: Good to see you back, Foo Mun. Cant believe that the price of one hair cut in France is equal to RM 75 in Malaysia. No wonder you keep it long la. Then u can tie ponytail already. Haha. Anyway I am glad we got a chance to keep in touch via the webcam. Bear in my that we all, I mean the whole bunch of SGI Class of 08 will be looking forward seeing you again next year. Take care in France, my friend.

Episode 38: F6

Prologue

I could still remember that in the beginning of the year, I strongly disaggree with my dad’s idea of sending me back to SGI for F6. The reason?? Most of my friends had gone. F6 is a waste of time(1 and half years!!!). And not to mention seeing “her” face again. Gosh.

I am very envy that most of my friends went for college. Taylor,Sunway,UNITEN, you name it. For once my dad asked me whether I want to go UTAR or not. I was jubilating at that time. Coz, I finally got to taste what college life is all about. But he took back those words as he thinks that F6 is more suitable for me. Sigh (sorry yea Joo Gin, kenot teman you). During Chinese New Year, my relatives came back. As we sat on the dining table (after eating) we started to chitchat about the path that I should take. As expected, my relatives 100% agree of sending me back to F6.

“Ah Keong r. Better listen to what ur dad says. He nvr wrong 1 in making decisions.”
“Ya lo. U know r? The standard of F6 is higher than Matrix and A-Levels u know??”
“Ah Keong this… Ah Keong that….”

After hearing their thoughts, I finally give in. I understand that my parents could not afford me to go for private colleges. As a result I hafta continue my next chapter of life in F6…

Welcome back to school

Its been almost six months since I left my alma mater. Nothing changes much. Just that the basketball court had been tiled up. The rest is still very much the same. As usual, students din tuck in shirt, rubbish everywhere and students wooing the new L6 gals. It can never change. Sad.

Orientation started on that day. Boring as ever. Ok, I am gonna skip that part. Orientation ended after a week. Then, I was placed in the Physics class for 3 miserable weeks!!!

My plan for F6 would be enrolling myself in the arts stream. (Account class-L6k2) I could not do that because I need a so called “kelulusan” from the JPN. To make matter worst, the peroid for F6 had been extended untill 4pm. 4pm you know!!! Kanasai le.

After the holidays, my request for changing to the arts stream was granted. But somehow, I don’t feel happy about it. Coz, Yiap,Nixon and Yew Cheong(who were supposed to join me n the account class) punya request were denied by the JPN. Therefore they have to make rayuan. This means they have to rot in the Physics class again!!!

Can anyone tell me why we need a kelulusan from JPN only you can change stream????

L6K2

When I first stepped into my new class, I was very nervous. As I stood by the class teacher, I could see 23 pairs of eyes staring at me. After telling to the form teacher that I am the new boy, I started to introduce myself…

“Hello there. My name is Hooi Mun Keong. Nice to meet you all”

There was a silence for a few seconds, before some of them satrted clapping. I was in a very awkward situation by that time(mayb for d few seconds of silence kot). I quickly scanned for a place to sit. Class ended without anyone talking to me. What a great start.

During extra class, things got “better”. Some of the girls started to talking to me, only to know that I DON’T SPEAK MANDARIN!!!. Later on, I realize that the whole class was made of(majority la) Hua Lian students. Therefore you can conclude that their daily conversation would be in Mandarin. Another great start.

I started to doubt whether I can mix with them or not. Luckily some of them can communicate in Cantonese. What a relief!!!As days goes by I started to mix with them more and more. The students in my class were super friendly and they don’t mind talking to me despite language barrier. So you can say that, I learning Mandarin everyday. Haha.

Epilogue

Its been almost 3 months now in the class. You can say that now I am very formal with them already. We are no more strangers from the dat we met. And I can say there wont be one dull moment from day 1 untill now. The class is so fun filled. I started enjoying F6 life now that even I rejected the offer that I got from the maktab.

Yiap,Nixon and Yew Cheong joined us 3 weeks after their request had been denied. They have to drive to Ipoh to get the job done.

Well, that’s how my life is.. in f6. I made countless of friends. And I had learn a lot of new stuffs. Of course have to study hard especially for account, since I had no basic in it. Hope to update more on whats goin on here in f6.

Until then, chao.
